Div Com reviews implementation of HC directions

JAMMU, Mar 19: To ensure strict and proper implementation of the Government order and High Court directive regarding registration and provision of adequate infrastructural facilities at private tuition centres in Jammu division, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal today chaired a meeting of monitoring committee of private tuition centres operating in Jammu.
During the meeting, it was apprised that in pursuance of Government Order No. 435 edu of 2010 and directions of the High Court of J&K in Public Interest Litigation titled Mohd Ehsan Handoo v/s State every action is being undertaken to implement the rules and directions for providing a quality and upgraded facility at these private tuition centres.
He emphasized on registration of these private tuition centres which fulfill the requisite criteria laid down under the rules and their regular inspections so as to monitor the basic facilities and other amenities being provided to the students at these institutions.
Director School Education Jammu Simrandeep Singh informed that 91 affidavits have been received from the owner of the private tutorials so far 90 from Jammu district and one from Udhampur district regarding compliance by them of the direction of the High Court for registration purpose only.
It was directed that in pursuance to the court directions and the Government order, the Deputy Commissioners and the Chief Education Officers of the district concerned alongwith a nominee of the IGP to assist them will carry out inspection of these institutions who have filed affidavit regarding fulfillment of conditions laid down in Government order and the High Court forthwith by the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
It was also decided that all other ‘tuition centres’ which have not filed affidavit for registration will be closed down.

Simrandeep Singh, Joint Director Information Jammu Smita Sethi and other senior functionaries were present in the meeting.
