JAMMU, Mar 1: Divisional Commissioner, Dr Pawan Kotwal today convened a meeting to discuss issues regarding non-availability of sanitation and other essential facilities for devotees, pilgrims and tourists visiting various shrines and tourist spots in the Jammu division.
In the meeting Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned district administration to identify some areas in vicinity of important towns on the highways to develop way side amenities including public conveyance and essential commodities shops. Such facilities should come up at a distance of 50 kms from each other, he added.
He also directed to cover both the sides of highways to cater to the needs of tourists. He stressed on building these facilities primarily on state owned lands and further directed to complete the identification of lands within 15 days.
He also directed BRO, NHAI, PWD and SAMPARK to submit proposals for developing state of the art facilities to boost tourist footfall in the State and make the journey comfortable and enjoyable for the travelers.
Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Ramesh Kumar, Director ULB, Arun K Sharma, ADC Poonch, Gurvinderjeet Singh, CEO Katra Development Authority, Sanjay Badyal and GM SASB Romesh K Pandita were present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Sheetal Nanda also joined the meeting through video conferencing.
