Div Com reviews arrangements for Maha Shivratri Festival

JAMMU, Feb 15: Arrangements for ensuing Maha Shivratri Festival commencing from February 26 to 28, 2014 at Shiv Khori (Ramsoo) in district Reasi were reviewed in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu here today.
The meeting was attended by DDC Reasi, DIG Traffic, Director Tourism Jammu, RTO Jammu, SP Reasi, ADC, ACR, Deputy Director Information, SE, PDD, XEn PDD besides senior officers of concerned departments.
It was informed in the meeting that three day festival would commence from February 26 at Shiv Khori (Ransoo). The Jhankhi will start from Tourist Reception Centre, Ransoo and culminate at Darshani Deodi depicting aspects of Lord Shiva. Cultural programmes, devotional songs, dances and Dangal are other major attractions of the festival. Government Departments would install stalls besides langers would also be arranged by religious organizations of Ransoo and adjoining areas for devotees coming from from within and outside the state.
The Divisional Commissioner issued specific instructions to Police and Traffic departments to ensure foolproof security and traffic arrangements so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience during the festival.
Similarly, PDD and PHE was asked to ensure interrupted power and water supply during the festival and repair the defunct lights especially enroute cave so that no untoward incident occur.
The RTO was directed to arrange sufficient number of buses for transportation of pilgrims besides cleanliness in Ransoo, the base camp of Shiv Khori Shrine by deployment of adequate number of safai karamcharies besides construction of temporary toilets was also discussed. The Rural Development Department would ensure face-lifting of shrine besides R&B (PWD) was asked to start repair work of dilapidated approach roads. The Tourism Department would display flex/hoardings at prominent places in Jammu, Katra, Reasi etc with a contact number for information of general public.
Tehsildar Reasi would be Mela Officer while BDO will be Yatra Officer who will monitor arrangements on regular basis. The Divisional Commissioner directed to set up a control room to ensure coordination between all allied departments to make the festival a big success.
The meeting deliberated upon various other issues like night halt of pilgrims, regulation of yatries, langer etc. The Divisional Commissioner stressed for massive involvement of local volunteers so that the Maha Shavratri Festival would be celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour.
