JAMMU, July 14: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today chaired a  meeting  to review arrangements for the smooth conduct of eight day long Shri Buddha Amarnathji Yatra commencing from August 9.
Inspector General of Police Danish Rana, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed, District Development Commissioner Reasi, Ravinder Kumar, Additional Commissioner, Rehana Batul, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Arun Manhas, SSP, Dr. Sunil Gupta besides other senior officers of Tourism Department, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and representatives of Shri Buddha Amarnath Yatra Management Committees of Rajouri and Poonch districts were present in the meeting.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal took stock of arrangements regarding availability of essentials and LPG besides providing medicare facilities, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water, parking and accommodation facilities for yatris in Rajouri and Poonch  were also discussed during the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure proper arrangements for reception of the pilgrims, security, accommodation, sanitation and traffic regulation so that devotees don’t face any inconvenience. He also directed for maintaining cleanliness enroute Yatra.  Fire and Emergency Department was directed to ensure availability of fire tenders at important places enroute Yatra and Food Safety Department was instructed to keep a strict vigil and check on food adulteration.
He also directed the Deputy Commissioner Poonch who attended the meeting through video conferencing to ensure strict enforcement of ban on polythene within the municipal limits of Poonch.  Divisional Commissioner also issued instructions to the concerned department to issue identity cards to Shri Amarnath Yatra Samitis well before the start of Yatra.
