SRINAGAR, Dec 22: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today pulled up the Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) for inordinate delay in construction of commercial complex meant for the shopkeepers’, who were dislodged due to the widening of the road at Jehangir Chowk.
Chairing a High Level Committee (HLC) meeting held to discuss the progress on construction of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover, Dr. Samoon expressed his dismay over the delay in the construction of the commercial complex, which is going to house the shopkeepers whose structures were dismantled to widen the road for the proposed construction of the flyover from Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh Chowk near Zum Zum Crossing.
Sources told Excelsior that Dr. Samoon asked the JKPCC to re-double its efforts in construction of the commercial complex so that the shopkeepers are rehabilitated there. He asked the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) to take back the pre-fab structures given to the shopkeepers for their temporary rehabilitation as there had been given in case of dire emergency and this cannot be extended further.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Baseer Khan, Chief Engineer EM&RE, Mohammed Muzaffar Mattoo, Director ERA, Khalid Muzaffar, SP Traffic City, Haseeb-ur-Rehman and some other officers including Director Land Management SDA and Superintending Engineer Hydraulic.
The Divisional Commissioner also chaired a meeting held in connection with the compensation cases pending with respect to widening of Pantha Chowk-Zewan road, Habba Kadal-Nai Sarak and Syed Mirak Shah Road. Besides Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar the meeting was attended by Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N. Qasba, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Farooq Renzu, Superintending Engineer, Circular Road Project, Farooq Andrabi and Chief Town Planner Kashmir, Iftikhar Ahmed Hakim.
