Div Com Ladakh interacts with PRI members, inspects development works in Kargil

KARGIL, Feb 22: Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas during his 2-day visit to Kargil took stock of the pace of progress on developmental works and met a number of public delegations to know about their developmental needs, grievances and demands.
The Divisional Commissioner visited Sanjak, Garkone, Silmoo, Minjee and several other villages and interacted with the public representatives including Sarpanchs and Panchs as well as prominent citizens of these areas.

While interacting with the members of the Gram Panchayat, the Divisional Commissioner underlined the need of utilizing the opportunities provided through devolution of powers to the PRIs in redressing the issues of their respective populations.
The Divisional Commissioner also advised the PRI members to educate the villagers about different Government schemes and programmes and to encourage them to actively participate in the Gram Sabhas and Gram Panchayat Development Plan.
At Silmoo, Sanjak and Garkone villages, the public delegations and individuals projected a number of demands which mainly included the repair and renovation of community hall at Silmoo, provision of loans under different Government schemes, facilities of bus for students of Garkone village studying at Higher Secondary School Silmoo, etc.
Responding to the demand for operating bus services for students, the Divisional Commissioner gave on spot orders to the officers concerned to immediately start SRTC bus services for the students. He also passed directions for completion of the Panchayat Ghar and placing of Common Service Center (CSC) at Sanjak within 20 days.
At Minjee, the Divisional Commissioner interacted with the members of State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) and MGNREGA laborers and discussed their issues in detail. He also inspected SRLM units at Minjee Gond and took stock of their functioning.
Councillor Baroo Minjee Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi besides Sarpanchs and Panchs of the area were also present on the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner also inspected development works being executed under Back to Village, BADP, MGNREGA and other schemes and instructed the officers concerned to ensure completion of these works within the set timelines while taking due care of quality and quantity parameters.
While highlighting the need to establish a mechanism of effective and efficient coordination between the Administration and people, the Divisional Commissioner stressed upon the officers accompanying him to be responsive to the needs and issues projected by the people and to ensure that these are resolved in a time bound manner.
Later the Divisional Commissioner also visited Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Kargil and took stock of its overall functioning.
