JAMMU, July 5: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, conducted an inspection of the langars here today, where he interacted with the pilgrims and assessed the facilities provided by the administration.
During his visit, he also went to the langar operated by the Shri Amarnathji Yatra Welfare Society (SAYWS), which is located opposite Vaishnavi Dham at the Railway Station.
The Divisional Commissioner engaged in conversations with both the pilgrims and the langar organizers. He even served langar to the pilgrims alongside other devotees and commended the services being offered by SAYWS.
As a gesture of appreciation, SAYWS office bearers honored Divisional Commissioner Jammu and presented him with a photograph of the naturally formed Ice-Lingam of Baba Amarnathji. ADC Harvinder Singh accompanied the divisional commissioner during the visit.
Expressing his gratitude, the President of SAYWS thanked the Divisional Commissioner for his visit and provided a brief overview of the society’s activities.
He emphasized that utmost attention was given to maintaining cleanliness at the langar, and packaged drinking water bottles were provided to the pilgrims. He further highlighted that SAYWS ran the langar solely with the support of its office bearers, without any external contributions.
“Approximately 3,000 to 4,000 pilgrims are served langar at the SAYWS venue on a daily basis,” he said.
Prominent attendees at the event included Tourism Federation of Jammu head Rajesh Gupta, SAYWS Senior Vice-President Anil Gupta, General Secretary Prem Sharma, Joint Secretary Kuldeep Luthra, Pontooji, Bitu Ji Bhat, Ashwani Bhat, Rattan Lal, Makhan Lal Pandita, Kamal Gunjoo and Ashok Kumar.
