JAMMU, May 11: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari today directed the administration to make all necessary arrangements in advance for the comfort of pilgrims at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar- the Jammu’s base camp for Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
The yatra to South Kashmir’s cave shrine is scheduled to begin on June 29.
The Divisional Commissioner was inspecting the facilities including accommodation, sanitation, water and power supply being made for the comfortable stay of pilgrims at the Yatri Niwas.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Jammu Anuradha Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation RS Jamwal, SSP, Jammu Dr. Sunil Gupta, Deputy Director, Tourism Department Subah Mehta and senior officers of district administration, police and CRPF also accompanied the Divisional Commissioner during the visit.
The Div Com directed for facelift of and cleanliness of surroundings of the Yatri Bhawan. He asked the Jammu Development Authority to start leveling of the open land opposite Yatri Niwas to use it for providing parking facility to the pilgrims.
During the visit, the Div Com was informed about the status of amenities including power supply, water supply, sanitation, transport, parking, security and langar arrangements available for the pilgrims at the Yatri Niwas.
Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari exhorted upon the concerned functionaries and departments to make sure that the yatris are served hygienic food at reasonable rates. He also called for keeping a strict check on overcharging, black marketing and profiteering.
He was informed that the token facility would remain available at Sangam Resort while as medicare centres would be established at Sarasvati Dham, Vaishnavi Dham, Jammu Hatt and Geeta Bhawan.
