JAMMU, Apr 22: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti, chaired a meeting to review the progress on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan’s 100 days campaign across the Jammu Division.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners and SSPs from all districts of Jammu Division, Director General, Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Director Health Services Jammu and concerned officers.
The meeting discussed the activities and programs being conducted under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (100 Days campaign) and assessed its impact. It was informed that large scale awareness activities are being conducted in every district with wide participation of people from all walks of life. The awareness programs are being conducted upto the panchayat level which include rallies, discussions, competitions in school for the eradication of the menace of drug abuse from the society.
It was further informed that comprehensive steps have been employed for identification of drug abuse hotspots while stringent action has also been taken against the drug peddlers as per law. Mahila Nigrani Samitis are being constituted in every panchayat and ward to provide feedback on the impact and active support in the intensified campaign against the Drugs abuse.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners for facilitating the mainstreaming of drug addiction victims by providing them institutional support and medical care. He further directed for active monitoring of the drug de addictions centres while ensuring there are no unauthorized drug de addictions centres are operating in their respective districts.
IGP Jammu emphasized on intensified efforts to nab the narcotics and drug peddlers. He called for innovative and comprehensive efforts for apprehending the peddling and abuse of drugs.
It was informed that a “I am Clean” campaign shall be started to declare a person free from any drug abuse and people from all walks of life should participate in it.
The Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu also sought suggestions and ideas of Deputy Commissioners for further increasing the impact and positive outcomes on the ground for complete eradication the menace of drug abuse from our society.
A number of suggestions were given out which included strategic steps to curb the unauthorized sale of prescription drugs, monitoring of digital bills and CCTV cameras in the chemist shops and drug stores, awareness of parents for identifying the early signs of drug abuse, sports activities for drug abuse victims and many other.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed on employing all the novel ideas that can bring out tangible results and impactful outcomes in the fight against the Drug abuse in complete letter and spirit.
