JAMMU, Nov 15: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu and Inspector General of Police, Rajesh Yadav today visited Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban and reviewed the preparedness for the forthcoming Assembly elections scheduled to be held in these districts on November 25.
While chairing meeting at DC Office Complex, Doda, Divisional Commissioner stressed on the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections in the district and emphasized on the coordinated efforts of civil administration, police and paramilitary forces for security of the voters.
Shantmanu said that all the agencies— PWD (R&B), GREF, PMGSY and JKPCC should augment their men and machinery so that all roads remain clear during election days. IGP directed the Senior Superintendent of Police Doda, M S Chouhan to prepare a route domination plan for the forces. He further emphasized that all the members of polling party should travel together and forces should check all the polling stations before entering into it to avoid any security threat.
Earlier, District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Doda, Shyam Vinod Meena gave a detailed account of the activities and preparations of the District Electoral Administration regarding Communication plan, Training Management Plan, Material Management Plan, MCC Management, Transport Plan and Expenditure Management in the district in a power point presentation.
At Kishtwar, Divisional Commissioner and IGP took a detailed review of election arrangements in the district. DIG DKR range and senior officers of Central armed police forces were present in the meeting. The meeting was attended by DC Kishtwar Mohd Javed Khan, SP Kishtwar, ADDC, ADC,ACR and other officers.
A detailed power point presentation regarding the poll arrangements, MCC, EVMs, man power managements, induction of polling parties, transport plan, special plan for far flung areas, difficult terrain of the district, chopper services for inaccessible areas was given by DC Kishtwar whereas SP discussed the security plan and deployment of Central forces.
The Divisional Commissioner called for coordinated approach to deal with any sort of exigencies during poll process. He asked the DDC to ensure medical facilities to polling parties in far flung areas.
At Ramban, various security issues related to free and fair conduct of elections were discussed with the district civil, police and other security agencies. DEO Farooq Shah Bukhari, ROs and all the Commandants of various security agencies, who are linked in one way or the other way with the election, were also present in the meeting.
Divisional Commissioner and IGP discussed all the security related issues, transportation plan and coordination with the civil administration and the observers appointed by the Election Commission of India for ensuring smooth and trouble free conduct of elections.
