Div Com discusses rehabilitation of persons involved in illicit liquor trade

JAMMU, Oct 6: To discuss the rehabilitation to people involved in brewing of illicit liquor, a meeting of concerned  departments  was held today here under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma.
The meeting was attended by Excise Commissioner Talat Parvez Rohella, Director Industries and Commerce, Dr. R S Sharma, Deputy Director FCS&CA Joginder Singh, SP Kathua, Shridhar Patil, Addl. SP  Crime Jammu, Suram Singh, Dy SP Jammu CID, Devinder Singh, AD ADM Social Welfare Ajay Salaan and EX- Manager J&K Bank Parshotam Kumar ETO Samba, Kathua and other senior functionaries of concerned department.
The meeting was informed  that around  75 families have been found involved in brewing of illicit liquor in district Kathua, 5   in Samba and 25 in Jammu.
A threadbare discussion was held to discuss measures for their rehabilitation by way councelling and imparting skill training in employable trades.
Director Industries and Commerce Dr. R S Sharma informed about various schemes for rehabilitation of such families. It was informed that their department provides loan facilities for establishment of self-employment  units.
Officials of EDI also apprised the Div Com about various schemes for providing assistance to jobless to establish own business.
The Div Com stressed on developing inter department co-ordination for the purpose.
He asked for conducting survey to identify families involved in brewing of illicit liquor and identify such small groups and seek their interest for particular trade. Further, he asked to study socio economic conditions of these families.
The Div Com asked the concerned departments to impart skill development trainings through ITI, Polytechnic and others so as to provide alternative employment to these families.
The Director I&C was appointed as Nodal Opfficer for utilizing all related officials for the purpose.
