Distress calls continue to pour

JAMMU, Sept 10: Excelsior continued to receive a large number of emails and messages from anxious relatives of the persons trapped in flood ravaged Srinagar after the launch of special column help@dailyexcelsior.com on its website.
The series of messages by the relatives of the trapped people was a clear indication that many people were yet to be rescued. Relatives of the trapped people of Jammu and other States were highly critical of the administration-both civil and police-for going into hibernation and making no efforts to either rescue the people or provide them any succor in the form food or medicines or even restoring mobile connectivity to know well being of their near and dear ones.
Emails and messages received by the Excelsior revealed that Ankush and Varsha, who had  gone for counseling of Medical in Srinagar were still untraced. So was Arun Bajaj putting up at Tulsi Bagh Old Quarters. RK Tickoo and Surinder Kachroo were trapped at Government Quarters, Jawahar Nagar.
Three persons-Pamposh Ganju, Dr Vishal and Manoj Kumar were held up in third storey of B-block of Tulsi Bagh  Government quarters near Amar Singh College and had no water and medicines. Merittrac staff and family members have sought their rescue from Hotel Paradise, Boulevard. Ashok Suri and his family is untraced in Jawahar Nagar.
Bashi Kumar of Shiv Nagar, Jammu working with Indian Oil Corporation has been stranded at IOC Depot at Srinagar and his family here has no information.
Nazma Bano of Kargil has no contact with her family for past one week while Ravi Magotra was stranded at Hotel President at Sonawar. Raj Kumar Sharma, a Civil Secretariat employee was trapped at Hotel Umar, Rajbagh while several other civilians from Jammu were stranded at Karan Bhawan at Jathyar near Jyestha Devi Mandir, Shankaracharya.
Rajinder Singh, Kirpal Singh and Ravinder Kour were putting up at Suthrashahi mosque for last four days and no one has so far reached to bring them back to Jammu.
A post on the website revealed that 400 Civil Secretariat employees from Jammu were still trapped at Tulsi Bagh quarters without any food and water.
Pankaj Goswami and Vijay Samyal along with their friends were trapped in Hotel Rigdon at Boulevard while some of their associates had taken shelter at Dar Masjid in Badami Bagh area.
Most of the people said that help line numbers given by the administration were not working. “No one is responding at the help line numbers. It seems the administration was sleeping,” the people said on the website.
Khajan Singh of Mula Talab, Kathua was stranded at Durga Parhi when the family had last communication with him while female students at GMC hostel at Karan Nagar have become unconscious in the absence of non availability of food and water and required immediate help.
Aruna Koul posted that her father Ashok Koul was stranded at 17 B Budshah flats in Hari Singh High Street building.
PN Moza is stranded at House No. 238/17 Indira Nagar Srinagar while Sanjeev Mishra was held up at Hotel Green Palace, Rajbagh. Jasbir Singh, Ranbir Kour and their children were stranded at Suthrashahi near Batmaloo.
A couple Sanjay Koul and Sanjana Koul with two kids were putting up at Indira Nagar, Batwara in Srinagar and have no contact with the family. MS Bhardwaj and his family members were staying at Hotel Gull Bar at Bar Sha Road near Post Office, Srinagar and have no contact with the family while Om Prakash Dogra from Reasi is stranded at AP 12 battalion, Rajbagh.
Gurvinder Singh posted that his niece is stranded at Elahi Bagh rescue camp near SKIMS Hospital Srinagar and was unconscious.
Pawan Langar has appealed to the authorities to rescue NIT students stranded at Central University Campus and had no food, water and medicines. Surinder and Vinay Koul were held up at House No. 46 Jai Kunj, Shivpora, Srinagar while Pawan Gupta and Ranjana Mahajan were trapped at Sampora.
Sahil Chaloria was stranded at Hazratbal and his family here has no information about him. AK Mattoo and Vardhan were last putting up at New Era School, Rajbagh and need immediate help as Vardhan is diabetic patient.
Ramesh Bhat of Excise Department residing in Iqura Hotel, Rajbagh, Srinagar has no contact with his family.
Kavi Raj Banathia working in Sports and Horticulture Department and residing in Hotel White Pearl near Iqbal Park is also untraced for last five days. Naresh Nanda was residing at Lalith Group of Hotels, Srinagar and his family has no contact with him since Monday evening.
PK Sharma and 8 people were stranded at Hotel Nazneen, Rajbagh.
