JAMMU, Oct 3: Kashmiri Migrant Relief Holders and Over-aged Youth held a protest demonstration at Press Club here today under the leadership of Ravinder Koul and appealed the Home Minister, Amit Shah who is on visit of Union Territory to look into their issue.
The protestors said that the relief holders are seriously concerned over constant delay in supply of ration. They also expressed serious concern over non delivery of ration to migrants for last four months and sought immediate intervention of the Government in the matter.
They said that the origin of the sufferings of displaced KPs lie in turmoil of 1990 but the Government since then failed to settle the issue of the Displaced Pandits who belong to over 5000 year old civilization whose contribution to Indian aesthetics is immense. They said it is unfortunate that the successive Governments at Delhi and J&K have totally ignored their plight and failed to take steps for its rehabilitation in last 34 years in accordance to the geopolitical aspirations of the community. They said the community is facing through worst phase and the condition of its youth especially who turned over age is totally miserable and their future has turned dark as successive Governments did not show any concern for their rehabilitation and settlement.
Though the community had pinned high hopes in present Government which took many bold steps in restoration of peace and weeding out of militancy from Kashmir but it too has also ignored hapless Displaced Pandits from Valley who has become refugees in their own country. The protestors urged the Government to put an end to their miseries by taking concrete steps in settling their problems by taking steps for their one time settlement.
Strongly advocating for hike in relief the protestors also demanded that the over aged youth be provided soft loans under various Central Government schemes to set up their business establishments so that they can stand up on their legs.
