JAMMU, Jan 9: Displaced Anganwadi workers who are on deployment in Jammu region today expressed grave concern over non disbursement of their honorarium for last four years.
In a statement these workers said that the Government has deployed them in Jammu region and they are also engaged on various community health programmes from time to time but it is unfortunate that for last four years their honorarium has not been released by the Government and since then they have been running from pillar to post for the same but to no avail.
The workers said that being in exile they have no other source of income and it is also a grave injustice as well as inhuman attitude of those at the helm of affairs who don’t understand this human problem of 109 displaced Anganwadi workers.
They said that the Government should take a decision on their fate and immediately release their honorarium so that they can discharge their social responsibilities towards their children and families. They demanded that Government should frame a clear-cut policy on them and release their honorarium without further delay failing which they will be forced to come to streets. These workers have also sought the personnel intervention of Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha in the matter and said that despite knocking the doors of high level officers in the Civil Secretariat nothing tangible has emerged so far. Now their only hope is left on LG in whom they have pinned high hopes.
