KISHTWAR, Mar 29: Taking a strong note of the illegal water connections in the district, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana today issued strict directions to the AEEs, AEs, JEs and field functionaries of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to disconnect all illegal water connections.
A number of deputations from every nook and corner of municipal limit Kishtwar and its adjoining Mandal area approached DDC office regarding the scarcity of drinking water.
They complained that due to illegal connections given to some vested interested persons by the officials of the PHE Department particularly from the main gravities have worsen the situation and has requested that all such illegal connections be disconnected at the earliest so that the dearth of drinking water be improved.
On the numerous complaints received, DDC inspected town and Mandal areas where large number of people are facing problems due to shortage of drinking water and requested to DDC Kishtwar that concerned department be directed to stop illegal connections.
Rana directed all the AEEs, AEs, JEs and other field functionaries working under Hydraulic Division to disconnect all the illegal connections immediately from the main gravity and distribution system lines and if any illegal connection is found, stern action as warranted under rules will be initiated against the erring officials.
He further directed to control and stop the leakages as sufficient volume of water is getting wasted due to leakages.
