JAMMU, May 19: Director Tourism Jammu Dr Vikas Gupta today visited border villages Pindi Charkan and Trewa in Tehsil Arnia and attended Special Gram Sabhas organised by the Block Development Officer, Arnia, Viplov Sudan under the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP).
The Director visited the villages in his capacity as Nodal Officer to review developmental requirements and held consultations with local stakeholders for formulation of a comprehensive development plan under the scheme.
During the proceedings, Vikas Gupta interacted extensively with former Panchayati Raj Institution members, local residents and prominent citizens of the area to obtain first-hand feedback regarding the developmental needs and priority sectors requiring intervention in the villages.
He also held discussions with officers of various line departments and sought detailed inputs for preparation of a draft action plan aimed at ensuring planned and sustainable development of the two villages namely Pindi charkhan kalan and Trewa.
He further emphasised upon the importance of community participation and inter-departmental coordination for successful implementation of the Vibrant Village Programme. He observed that effective convergence among departments and active involvement of the local population are essential for achieving the objective of inclusive and holistic development of border villages.
He further assured the public that all possible measures would be taken to ensure balanced and need-based development of Pindi Charka and Treva through close coordination with the Rural Development Department and other allied departments. He directed the concerned officers to work in close synergy and identify priority works so that developmental interventions are executed in a time-bound and result-oriented manner.
The Gram Sabhas were attended by Tehsildar Arnia, Block Development Officer Arnia and DySP (Probation), besides officers and representatives of various departments including Health , Agriculture, Social welfare, PDD, School Education, Irrigation. Deputy Director Planning, Tourism and Assistant Director Tourism Jammu also accompanied the Director during the visit.
