Director SKIMS gets 6-month extension

SRINAGAR, June 26: Director SKIMS Prof AG Ahangar who was set to retire has been accorded an extension in his service by the Government today while directing him not to look after the issues related to procurement and appointments at the premier healthcare institute.
Prof Ahangar has been given an extension of 6 more months in his services keeping in view the situation that has arisen due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In view of the situation arising due to COVID-19, it is hereby ordered that Prof. A G Ahangar, Director, SKIMS and Ex- Officio Secretary to the Government, who was to retire on attaining the age of 65 years on 25.06.2021, shall continue to hold the post of Director, SKIMS and Ex-Officio Secretary to the Government till 31.12.2021, in terms of Government Order No.358 dated 04.05.2021 issued by H&ME Department,” read the order issued by the GAD.
The order stated that during this period, Prof A G Ahangar will not look after the issues related to procurement and appointments in the Institute and the same shall be looked after by a Committee to be constituted by the Government.
It may be mentioned here that there are allegations of corruption and favouritism against Dr Ahangar that is why he has been asked not to look after purchases and appointments. Excelsior exposed the frauds in the purchases of ventilators, COVID beds and masks scam in the SKIMS.
