Director Roberto Orci drops out of ‘Power Rangers’ movie

LOS ANGELES, Sept 21:  Roberto Orci has dropped out of directing the upcoming ‘Power Rangers’ movie due to his prior commitments to direct ‘Star Trek 3’.
Orci will have no involvement in the project whatsoever. He was also set to executive produce the movie, reported Deadline.
The film is set to be a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.
Orci is taking over the ‘Star Trek’ director’s chair after JJ Abrams left to helm the upcoming ‘Star Wars Episode VII’.
Orci has an extensive body of work that includes writing the prior 2 ‘Star Trek’ movies as well as other films including ‘Mission: Impossible III’, ‘Transformers’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’.
He has also worked on various TV shows such as ‘Fringe’, ‘Alias’ and ‘Hawaii Five-0’.
‘Star Trek 3’ will be his feature film directing debut. (PTI)
