Jammu, May 6: Director, Social Welfare, Jammu Dr. Bharat Bhushan conducted two days extensive tour of Rajouri and Poonch Districts to review the working of the department in these twin districts.
At Rajouri, a review meeting was taken in which District Social Welfare Officer, Rajouri Naseeb Choudhary, all Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, Supervisors, Superintendents of Homes and Craft teachers were present. The District Social Welfare Officer gave a resume of the physical and financial progress achieved during the last fiscal.
Thereafter, Director and District Social Welfare Officer, Rajouri inspected Nari Niketan, Rajouri and Bal Ashram, Manjakote. The Director interacted with inmates and enquired about the facilities being provided by the department.
At Poonch, the review meeting was joined by Additional District Development Commissioner, Choudhary Abdul Rashid. The District Social Welfare Officer Poonch, Sh. Shakeel Ahmed gave a resume of the achievements registered last year with regard to pension disbursement and scholarship to students of pre and post matric classes.
On way back, the Director Social Welfare inspected Bal Ashram, Sunderbani and found the premises, building and kitchen neat and clean.
He observed some shortfalls in Nowshera Bal Ashram and directed DSWO to provide the service required on priority. Kuldeep Singh, Deputy Director Planning of the directorate accompanied the director during the tour.
The Director exhorted the field functionaries to work in a missionary mode as the department is directly concerned with the welfare of weak, aged and under privileged sections of the society.
