Director Rajya Sainik Board calls on Lt Gen Anbu

UDHAMPUR, Feb 18: Director, Rajya Sainik Board (RSB), Brig Harcharan Singh (Retd) called on Lt Gen D Anbu, Army Commander, Northern Command today and briefed him on issues of welfare of veterans and families of martyrs.
The Army Commander was apprised about the December 6, event at Jammu which was also attended by Governor to bring about synergy between citizens and Armed forces. A survey is under process to identify widows of ex-servicemen who are not getting pension in the State as per the directions of the Governor.
On the concern of the Army Commander for the welfare of ex-servicemen, the Director informed that a software be developed with assistance of the Army for compilation of veteran’s data which would help to streamline the process of issues of identity cards and availing benefits from various welfare schemes issues of Central and State Government is under final stages of trials.
He also mentioned that the pension documents of old pensioners and widows are being collected, for further analysis thereby, helping many of them by claiming financial dues in a number of cases. He said with the support of Finance Department of State Government and various ESM organizations, necessary amendments have been issued to Government orders that would facilitate widows of veterans to procure four wheelers through the CSD.
Army Commander assured the Director, all the support from the Army in all activities concerning welfare of veterans and widows.
