JAMMU, Feb 4: Director Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Jammu, Jatinder Singh today conducted surprise inspections of Fair Price Shops (FPS) to check the compliance of guidelines and norms by the dealers of Jammu Rural-II for delivery of food grains under Public Distribution System.
The Director was accompanied by Assistant Director Jammu Rural-II, Vipan Bhagat and other officials of FCS&CA department.
The Director visited FPS at Chatha Barjala and adjoining remote areas of Jammu West Circle.
He conducted the tour primarily to assess the implementation of online Aadhaar authentication through electronic point of sales machines installed at every fair price shops and implementation of Aadhar seeding especially through electronic point of sale machines.
During the checking, the Director was informed about few challenges being faced while operating devices. He directed the concerned officers to take necessary exercise to ensure its smooth functioning and to take immediate necessary corrective measures to ensure total implementation of real-time Aadhaar authentication mode for distribution of food grains.
At present, nearly four lakh beneficiaries are enrolled under various categories including Antodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Household (PHH) ration cards and Non-Priority Household (PHH) ration cards in Jammu Rural-II.
Director also directed the concerned officers to ensure that all the prescribed information is displayed on the boards of all FPS and ensure that no laxity will be tolerated on the part of “erring” FPS dealers. He directed the officers to conduct surprise visits more frequently and ensure that hundred percent sales are recorded through epos machines for the ongoing month.
