JAMMU, Oct 25: Director Agriculture, H K Razdan today inspected the mechanized paddy harvesting with combine at village Mohanpur in Arnia area of R S Pura Sub Division. The farmers’ producers group led by Rajinder Parsahd has raised the high yielding variety of paddy HKR -47 in an area of 20 acres and the harvesting was started with paddy combine harvester to save time in the sequence of crops where three crops are being raised in a year.
Razdan during his interaction with the farmers said that the sequence of multiple crops growing should be adopted to increase the farm income to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of doubling the farm income by 2022. He said that the other farmers will also get motivated to adopt the latest machinery and technologies as being done by the group. He stressed on reducing the cost of production, diversification of farming and to give attention to the marketing of their produce to uplift the economic conditions of the farmers. He asked the farmers not to sell their produce at less than MSP rates to private businessmen.
Director Agriculture also interacted with the field functionaries of R S Pura, Sub Division including officers, JAEOs Sudhakar Khajuria, Pardeep Anand, Amit Choudhary and VAEAs Rakesh Singh, Anil Kumar Salgotra, S Kulbir Singh of the department and directed them to reach out to the farmers to make them aware regarding various farmers welfare schemes and adaptation of latest technology.
Deputy Director Agriculture (Central) Jammu, C M Sharma, Area Development Officer ( Vegetables), Jammu, S A S Reen and Programme Officer, J C Raina accompanied the director during his visit to the farmers field.
Earlier, Raina inaugurated a training programme of 50 progressive farmers at Krishi Bhawan Jammu organized by the department to provide training to farmers in latest technology.
