JAMMU, May 11: The activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement held a protest demonstration against the Government for the worst condition of the city roads, ever burgeoning traffic problem and paucity of basic amenities in Jammu city.
Addressing the protesters Sunil Dimple, JWAM president, alleged that no development is taking place in Jammu city, particularly in the West Assembly constituency, where all the development has come to a halt.
Dimple said all the roads of the West constituency and Jammu city are damaged, dust pollution has damaged the show rooms, business goods worth lakhs of rupees and is also causing fatal breathing diseases for the people.
He gave one week ultimatum to PWD R&B, ERA, PHE and JMC to start the complete and full black topping work immediately otherwise the agitation will be intensified.
On the one hand, Dimple thanked Altaf Bukhari PWD R&B Minister for sanctioning Rs 300 crores for black topping of the Jammu district roads and 40 crores for the West Assembly constituency.
He demanded CM to start the construction of flyovers at Rehari Chungi, Jewel Chowk, bifurcation of the constituency into two Assembly segments and grant of District Status to the Jammu West constituency.
Dimple demanded the CBI Inquiry into the ERA sewerage project, and urged the Minister to hold an inquiry as he is also Urban Development Minister.
Dimple also alleged that the residents of the West constituency are not getting basic amenities, acute scarcity of drinking water but no step has been initiated to start construction of the Chenab Water Project.
