JAMMU, Apr 20: DIG Railways J&K Zahid Nasim Manhas today conducted an important visit to the Government Railway Police (GRP) Jammu, where he reviewed functioning and interacted with officers to strengthen policing and passenger security.
During his visit, the DIG held a darbar at GRP Lines Jammu, providing a platform for officers and personnel to raise their concerns and issues. He assured that all genuine grievances would be addressed on priority and emphasized the need for prompt redressal mechanisms to maintain morale within the force.
Later, he chaired a meeting with the SSP GRP Jammu and other Gazetted Officers (GOs) of GRP Jammu. The meeting focused on reviewing operational efficiency, deployment strategies, and preparedness of the GRP in handling emerging challenges. He stressed the importance of coordination, discipline, and professionalism in ensuring smooth functioning of railway policing.
The DIG also reviewed security arrangements at Railway Station Jammu, with special emphasis on enhancing passenger safety. He directed officers to remain vigilant and ensure strict implementation of ongoing security measures, including surveillance, patrolling, and access control systems.
Highlighting the significance of railways as a critical public transport system, he urged officers to adopt proactive policing and maintain a high level of alertness to prevent any untoward incidents.
The visit concluded with directions to further strengthen security grids and improve overall efficiency in safeguarding railway passengers and infrastructure.
