JAMMU, Apr 7: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Dr Sunil Gupta, chaired a comprehensive meeting today aimed at assessing the law and order and crime situation in Jammu District.
As per a statement, SSP Jammu, Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySP DAR Jammu, and all SHOs of the district attended the meeting.
During the session, SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar, provided a detailed overview of the prevailing crime and law enforcement scenario in the district.
DIG JSK Range, Dr Sunil Gupta, in his review, emphasized the urgent need for concerted efforts to resolve pending cases, including backlog cases and inquest proceedings, while also calling for decisive action against drug peddlers and other disruptive elements.
With a strong focus on combating the drug menace, Dr Gupta urged officers to adopt a mission-oriented approach, targeting the eradication of illicit drug networks.
He directed the SHOs to identify and seize the assets of the drug addicts, peddlers and gangsters, thereby disrupting the drug trade nexus.
Enhanced surveillance measures were also emphasized, including area domination, fortified checkpoints, and CCTV surveillance.
Dr Gupta stressed the critical role of vigilant monitoring to counteract potential threats from anti-national elements, particularly in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Furthermore, officers were tasked with expanding the deployment of CCTV cameras, with meticulous record-keeping, to bolster monitoring capabilities and deter criminal activities.
Dr Gupta encouraged collaborative efforts with local communities to facilitate the installation of CCTV cameras, fostering a safer environment.
In a bid to incentivize performance, Dr Gupta announced plans to introduce rankings for Police Stations, with rewards for the top performers and tailored guidance for those requiring improvement.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment from police officers to implement the outlined strategies rigorously, ensuring effective policing and public safety.
