DIG IR Range Jammu reviews functioning of 19th IR Bn in Kathua

JAMMU, May 7: DIG IR Range Jammu, Nisha Nathyal today visited the headquarters of 19th IR Battalion in Kathua and reviewed the functioning of the unit besides conducting inspection and darbar with Jawans.
The DIG was received by Commandant Atul Sharma at the Battalion headquarters, where a guard of honour was presented to her.
During the visit, she inspected the Battalion complex and reviewed infrastructure facilities and ongoing development works. She also planted a sapling in the campus in the presence of officers and Jawans.
A pipping ceremony was also organised on the occasion during which the DIG conferred ranks upon newly promoted personnel.
As per APHQ orders, 32 officials of the unit were promoted, including 16 Assistant Sub-Inspectors promoted as Sub-Inspectors and 16 Head Constables elevated to the rank of Assistant Sub-Inspector.
Officials said some of the newly promoted SIs achieved the promotion within three-and-a-half years of their previous elevation, which is considered a significant achievement in the history of J&K Armed Police.
In his welcome address, Commandant Atul Sharma highlighted the Battalion’s deployments, operational commitments and various initiatives undertaken by the unit.
Addressing the promoted personnel, the DIG IR Range Jammu, Nisha Nathyal congratulated them and their families and asked them to continue serving the force with dedication and integrity.
She also interacted with Jawans during a darbar and heard their grievances. She issued on-the-spot directions for redressal of several issues raised by the personnel.
Later, the DIG joined Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, SSP Mohita Sharma and Principal PTS Manjeet Kour along with other officers during the “Bada Khana” organised at the Battalion headquarters.
