Differently abled border migrants provided mobility aids

KATHUA, Oct 14: District Administration, Kathua, has provided wheelchairs and other mobility aids to differently abled persons of border areas putting up in the safe shelters in the backdrop of border firing.
The wheelchairs and mobility aids including walking sticks and crutches were provided to the needy persons at relief camps located in Hiranagar, Chhan Khatryan and Marheen for their hassle free movement.
The initiative was taken after medical teams deputed for health checkups identified the differently-abled persons and limitations faced by them while moving with the camp.
Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, has appointed Assistant Director, P&S, Babu Ram Sharma, as Nodal Officer to coordinate and provide required facilities to differently abled /physically handicapped persons presently putting up in the relief camps.
The wheelchairs were handed over to the needy persons by SDM Hiranagar, Sohan Lal.
Pertinently, the district administration has constituted core group for looking into special needs of border migrant  women, children, elderly and differently abled persons   residing in the relief camps. The Core Groups have arranged logistic support from various sources for these persons in the camps.
Chairman of Border Residents Union, Bharat Bhushan, has expressed gratitude to the district administration for making extraordinary efforts and being sensitive to each and every demand of various sections of migrants in the hour of need.
