JAMMU, Jan 25: Different organizations here today celebrated National Voters Day by organizing different programmes.
Directorate of Student Welfare and NSS SKUAST-Jammu celebrated National Voters Day and organized a webinar on ‘Role of Youth in Nation Building’. A pledge taking ceremony was also held to make youth and first time voters committed for casting votes on voting days and to feel them realize the power of vote.
Under the guidance of Principal, Prof Sunil Uppal, Department of Political Science of Government MAM College Jammu celebrated National Voters Day wherein a slogan writing competition and symposium on the theme ‘Significance of Voters Day’ was organized.
Govt College of Education Jammu organized an offline event celebrating National Voters’ Day in the college premises.
The event was successfully organized by Prof C L Shivgotra, Dr Shubhra Jamwal (NSS PO) and Prof Shapia Shamem of GCOE along with the volunteers from the college.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kulwinder Kour, Principal GCOE, said that it is the responsibility of the citizens especially the upcoming generation to be aware about their constitutional rights and elect their representatives by exercising the power of right to vote for the better development of our nation.
The program comprised of a patriotic song competition. Dr Jyoti Parihar, Prof Shalini Rana and Prof Deep Kumar Bangotra were the respective jury members for the event. The winners of the event were Ravinder Kumar, who bagged the 1st position, 2nd and 3rd positions were secured by Nikita Singh and Pardeep Kour respectively. A speech was presented by Meenakshi Manhas, NSS volunteer from the college. The student volunteers who helped in organizing the event were Ravinder Kumar, Priya Chivalry Singh, Meenakshi Manhas and Ajay Bhau.
NSS Unit of Government Degree College Kunjwani/ Sainik Colony Jammu celebrated National Voters Day to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India which was formed on January 25, 1950. The students and staff of the College took pledge on this day. Principal of the college, Dr. Anil Kumar Ganjoo and Dr. Vishal Sharma, Associate Professor addressed the students and staff about the importance of the day.
Government Degree College, Marh celebrated National Voters Day wherein a rally was taken out by the students and NSS volunteers under the patronage of Principal GDC Marh, Prof Aekta Gupta. The aim of rally was to encourage, empower and to ensure maximum enrolment of new voters. Earlier a pledge taking ceremony was held in which principal, staff and students participated.
GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar celebrated National Voters Day wherein the principal, staff, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets took pledge.
GDC Vijaypur celebrated National Voters Day wherein pledge ceremony and extension lecture on ‘Role of Young Voters in Democracy’ was held and Renuka Kundal, HoD of Political Science Department extorted that every vote counts.
NSS Units and Electoral Literacy Club GDC Kathua celebrated National Voters Day and organized Voters Day pledge in which Principal, faculty members and NSS volunteers of the college participated. Prof Ritu Raj read out the pledge.
Electoral Literacy Club of Government Degree College Basohli in collaboration with Sub District Administration organized a symposium on the eve of National Voters Day the theme ‘Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.’ ADC Basohli, T.R Thappa was chief guest on the occasion.
To commemorate the foundation day of Election Commission of India, GDC Akhnoor celebrated National Voters Day under the guidance of Principal, Dr. Namrata wherein a chart making activity was organized which was followed by taking Voters Day pledge by students and staff members of the College.
Department of Political Science in collaboration with NSS Unit of GDC Khour celebrated National Voters Day on the theme ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.’ An online slogan writing competition was organized in which students of the college participated.
At GDC Udhampur National Voters Day was celebrated through online mode under the supervision of Principal, Prof. Subash Chander. Poster making and slogan writing competitions were held to aware voters.
Videos on similar themes were also made by the students which were later were uploaded on social media platforms.
Online activities were conducted by Bharat Scouts and Guides at Udhampur on the occasion of National Voters Day. These activities included pledge, mock polls, slogans and painting competitions. Scout Master, Rakesh Singh said they have to inculcate democratic values among students through such competitions.
On National Voters Day, GDC Dudu Basantgarh organized an inter college poster making and slogan writing competition on online mode to aware students about electoral process, registration and power voting. The competition was held under the supervision of Principal GDC Dudu Basantgarh, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand.
National Voters Day was celebrated by Government Degree College Darhal in which students and staff members took pledge to uphold the democratic traditions and to vote in every election fearlessly. Speaking on the occasion Principal of the College, Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia highlighted the major achievements of Election Commission of India in making the election process accessible, smooth and safe.
The NSS unit of Government Degree College Kalakote organized a pamphlet making and slogan writing event to celebrate 11th National Voters Day. A rally was organized on this occasion which was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kalakote, Krishan Lal along with Chairman Municipal Committee, Kalakote, Vijay Suri.
GDC Sunderbani celebrated National Voters Day with enthusiasm and zeal under the supervision of College Principal, Dr. Vandana Gupta. A rally was organized on this occasion after which a lecture on ‘Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’ was delivered by Prof. Mukesh Sharma and Jan Mohammad.
Government Degree College Mendhar celebrated 11th National Voters Day with the theme ‘Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’. The programme was organized by GDC Mendhar in collaboration with Sub-Divisional Administration Mendhar under the overall supervision of Prof. Dileep Kumar Raina, Principal of the College, who also presided over the function.
NSS Unit of GDC Bishnah celebrated National Voters Day wherein a symposium was organized on the topic ‘Importance of Voters in Strengthening Democracy.’ Principal of the College and other staffers also participated in Voters Day pledge.
NSS Unit of Dogra Degree College organized an event to mark the National Voters Day. Priya Kundal, Lecturer Political Science spoke on ‘Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy’ on virtual platform. After this, all pledged to exercise voting rights was held.
National Voters Day was celebrated by Jammu Municipal Corporation under the guidance of ERO 69 Jammu West constituency and ERO 68 Jammu East. On this occasion, Mayor was the chief guest and Deputy Mayor was the guest of honour. Voter Cards were issued to the new voters by Mayor and Dy. Mayor. Assistant Commissioner (R), JMC, Sudhir Bali and others were also present on this occasion.
GDC Dharmari (Reasi) celebrated National Voters Day on the theme ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed.’ The programme was held under the supervision of Baldev Singh, Assistant Prof Political Science.
