Different events organized to celebrate International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking

JAMMU, June 26: Different events were organized to celebrate International Day against the Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Social Welfare Department organised mass awareness drive on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
The day was celebrated in all the districts of Jammu division in collaboration with District Administration and active participation of youth from Mission Himaayat, University and school children.
The main function was held at Police Auditorium by Department of Social Welfare, Jammu and District Administration Jammu in collaboration with 92.7 Big FM. It was attended by the Commissioner Secretary SWD Sheetal Nanda, DC Jammu Avny Lavasa, Vivek Sharma DG SWD, Rachna Sharma Secretary SWD and Shafiq Chak Director SWD Kashmir. RJ Juhie from Big FM led the pledge ceremony. The day was observed with theme based dances by Nrityanjali, singing by Juhi Singh, Santoor by Saptak Classical Fusion Band and play by Natrang. The audiences were mesmerized throughout the show and took the message of ill effects of drug abuse in an entertaining way. The day was also celebrated at boys hostel Central University Samba with Red FM team.
To celebrate the day, Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Education and Health Department organized a seminar at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban wherein Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam presided over the event. Similar programmes were also held at Sub-division, Tehsil and Institution level in Gool, Banihal, Ramsoo and Batote.
The International Day of drug abuse and illicit trafficking was today observed in Rajouri with the theme, ‘Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crises.’ The event was organized by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the District Administration which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal. An awareness nukkad natak was staged by the artists of the Rangmanch theatre group to inform the participants about the ill effects on health and society.
District Administration Kathua observed the Day a by hosting an impressive awareness program at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial College of Education which was organised by the District Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Nari Shakti Jagriti Manch Kathua (NGO) wherein a theme based cultural programme featuring an awareness skit was organised to spread the message of harmful effects of drugs. The Social Welfare Kathua also organised a ‘Signature Campaign’ on the event.
To observe International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking, multifarious activities were organised by District Administration Samba. The day started with an awareness cum counseling program by AYUSH Department wherein people were sensitized about the dangerous and life threatening effects of drugs.
The Government Model Girls Higher Secondary School Samba organised a seminar to observe the day, while a counselling session was held at BDO office Bari Brahmana wherein counsellors educated the people about drug menace.
Deputy Commissioner Inder Jeet flagged off a rally from Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel to spread awareness among the public regarding the menace of drug addiction, which culminated at Sports Stadium Poonch. Speaking on the occasion, the DC spoke about the growing menace of narcotics, alcohol and their ill-effects on human health especially on the youth.
The Day was also observed by the District Administration Udhampur in collaboration with Social Welfare Department, Mission Youth, NSS Volunteers and Mirchi 98.3 FM at Conference Hall Government Degree College Boys Udhampur. The ADC Anu Behl was the chief guest in presence of CMO, Dr Vijay Basnotra, Assistant Director Employment, Priyanka Gupta and other officers/ Officials of concerned departments.
Multifarious activities were held to mark the Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking across the Kishtwar district. The Deputy Commissioner and SSP flagged off an awareness rally and vehicle to spread awareness against drug abuse which was organised by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the District Administration, Police administration and School Education Department. During the programme the students staged nukkad natak and skits on the theme ‘Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ and ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat.’
District Administration Reasi marked the Day by holding a series of activities across the district. The main event was held in the Auditorium, DC Office Complex by the Department of Social Welfare in collaboration with “Mission Youth ”, Police Department, Department of Health and Medical Services, Department of Education, JKEDI and Department of Child Protection Services. The event started with a rally that was flagged off by DC Babila Rakwal, thereafter various events like Rangoli making, lectures, debates, PowerPoint Presentations and Nukkad Natak were organized.
To strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse, the Day was observed across Doda district with the theme, “Addressing Drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis.” The main events were organised by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the District Administration at Community Hall Doda, famous tourist spot Jai Valley, Dak Bungalow Thathri, Giasia Model Academy Changa and Government Higher Secondary School Assar.
The cadets of 2 J&K Girls Battalion NCC of Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar observed the International Day by taking pledge. About 80 cadets along with ANO took an online pledge on “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs” to create awareness among masses, while 24 cadets made posters to address this vulnerable issue and posted them on social media and digital forums.
To celebrate the day, Police Drug De-addiction Centre Jammu organized a programme. SP Headquarters Ramnish Gupta was the chief guest on the occasion. Incharge of the centre Dr Shahnaz Butt, Medical Officer Dr. Gulnaz Choudhary along with other staff members were also present.
Nowshera Police under the supervision of SDPO Nowshera Tosif Ahmed with assistance of SHO Nowshera and IC PP Lamberi organized a bike rally against drug abuse to aware the youths and general public against drugs.
Celebrating the International Day against the Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Deputy Commissioner Budgam Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza today flagged off a bike awareness rally against the menace in the district. The rally was organised by District Social Welfare Office Budgam. On the occasion, District Social Welfare Office Budgam in collaboration with District Administration also organized a daylong awareness programme on drug abuse and Illicit trafficking at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall Budgam, where a galaxy of resources persons spoke threadbare on various aspects of drug abuse and its impact on the society in general and on youth in particular.
Celebrating International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, District Administration Kupwara today held an awareness campaign across the district with involvement of stakeholders from all walks of life. Mega events were held at Degree Colleges of Kupwara, Handwara, Sogam and Tangdar. The events were presided over by the senior officers of District Administration. Same mega events were also held at Degree Colleges of Handwara, Sogam and Tangdar which were respectively presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Handwara and concerned SDMs. Earlier, DC Kupwara flagged off the bike rally. Awareness campaigns and rallies were also held in all 53 Higher Secondary schools of the district. The main function of the Education Department was held at Higher Secondary School, Kupwara, where Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir distributed Tablets among 50 orphan students in presence of CEO, Abdul Hameed Fani and other officers.
To observe the day, District Social Welfare Department Kulgam in collaboration with the District Administration organized a series of activities and events here at Kulgam. On the occasion, a mini marathon from Chawalgam to drug de-addiction centre and flagging off vehicles carrying anti drug messages were organized. These activities were flagged-off of by the Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din-Bhat and ADC Kulgam Showkat Ahmad Rather.
The District Administration Shopian in collaboration with the Imtiyaz Memorial Government Degree College, Shopian held a day-long awareness programme on “Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” at IM GDC Campus, Shopian.
District Administration Bandipora celebrated International Day against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking. The day witnessed various programmes. The programme was organized by District Administration Bandipora in collaboration with District Election Office Bandipora, ICDS, Social Welfare and other departments. Chairman DDC Bandipora Abdul Gani and Deputy commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmed expressed their views on the occasion.
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was celebrated throughout the district Ganderbal. The main event was held at Hope Disability Centre which was presided over by Additional District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Khurshid Ahmad Shah.
To mark the International day against drug abuse & illicit trafficking, the District Administration Srinagar on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad organised several programmes, rallies and drawing and painting Competitions here on Sunday. The major event was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and was organised in collaboration with District Youth Services & Sports Department during which a rally was taken out to aware the general public about the harmful and ill effects of the Drug menace. The rally was carried out under the supervision of DYSS Officer, Balbir Singh
In order to celebrate “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking”, a series of seminars and cycle rallies were organized by the District Administration across Baramulla District. The main function was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School Baramulla wherein Education Department with an active collaboration of District administration Baramulla organised a daylong seminar on the subject. The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the seminar as the chief guest while as Senior Superintendent of Police Rayees Mohammad Bhat was the guest of honour. President Municipal Council Baramulla also participated in the event. Similar seminars, rallies, and awareness programmes were also held at all Blocks of the district to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
J&K Sports Council organized an awareness programme on drug abuse and illicit trafficking to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul on her Twitter handle wrote, “We cannot allow the drug problem to further shadow the lives of the people. On this important day, let us commit to lifting this shadow once and for all, and giving this issue the attention and action, it deserves”. The day was observed in all chief stadiums and other sports facilities.
On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Excise Range Udhampur-Reasi under the guidance of Pankaj Kumar Sharma Excise Commissioner, J&K and under the supervision of Bal Krishan Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, organized Anti Drug Symposium at Government Higher Secondary School Pouni, District Reasi. Principal Government Higher Secondary School Pouni, ZEO Pouni, Sarpanch Pouni, Panches, PRIs members, students, staff members and civil society members were present on the occasion. The ETO Udhampur-Reasi Range Swati Gupta highlighted different challenges the world is facing and the steps to create a world free of drug abuse.
NSS Unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu under the patronage of College Principal Prof GS Rakhwal organized a two-day activity commemorating the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Government Degree College (GDC) Jourian observed International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the aegis of IQAC, Psychological Counselling Cell, NSS Unit, Health and Eco Club, Activity/Cultural Affairs Committee of the college. Principal Prof Kuldeep Raj Sharma along with other staff members attended the programme.
The day was celebrated at Government PG College Udhampur by Department of Social Welfare Udhampur. A demonstration on self defense was presented on the occasion.
To celebrate the Day, GDC Marh organized an online Inter-College Poster-Making and Slogan Writing Competition. The programme was held under the patronage of Principal Prof Aekta Gupta. In the Poster-Making category, the first rank was secured by Ritika Chodhary, second rank by Muskan Chib and third rank by Manisha Devi. In the slogan- writing category, Reetu Singh Bhau, Isha Sharma and Arushi Sharma emerged winners.
The Department of Social Welfare, District Udhampur in collaboration with the NSS Unit of the Government Degree College Udhampur and Radio Mirchi 98.3 Fm organized an awareness program on Drug-Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to commemorate the day. The program was organized under the supervision of Kanika Gupta (DSWO), Dr Ajay Kumar Sharma and Dr. Rippy Bawa NSS POs. Anu Behl ADDC Udhampur was the chief guest of the program whereas CMO Dr Vijay Basnotra, Priyanka Gupta, District Employment Officer, Chaman Gorkha SHO Udhampur and Sukhdev Singh were the special guest. Principal Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta was also present on the occasion.
The NSS Unit-Prabha, Government Degree College Ramgarh celebrated International Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. An online Slogan writing competition was organized on the day. The program was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college.
NSS Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College, Vijaypur celebrated the day by organizing a poster making and slogan writing competition on the theme “Say Yes to Life and No to Drugs”. First position was shared by Kajal Choudhary and Kavya Charak, second position by Manvir Kour and Roopa Devi and third position by Manesha Sangotra. Consolation prize was given to Akash. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the college.
The day was celebrated with much fervour at GCW Anantnag. Chairman DDC MY Gorsi was the chief guest on the occasion, while ADDC Anantnag was guest of honour. The students from GCW Anantnag and various schools presented colourful cultural programs. Essay and painting competition, rallies were held to spread awareness against drugs.
Jewel Bazar Traders Association in collaboration with Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation jointly organized a function to observe the Day, wherein VHP president, Rajesh Gupta was the chief guest and DySP, KD Bhagat was the guest of honour. Both of them honoured Inspector Vijay Sharma (SHO Nowabad) for his services rendered in the interest of the public.
A lecture was delivered on ‘Drug Abuse’ in Piri village at Rajouri by Tithawal Brigade of Indian Army along with Civil Administration and J&K Police wherein ill effects of drugs were discussed during the event.
Poonch Taekwondo Academy in collaboration with District Social Welfare Department and Child Line Poonch organized an ‘Anti Drug Rally’ from District Court which culminated at Sports Stadium Poonch. The rally was flagged by Sub Judge and DLSA Secretary, Wajhat Hussain Kazmi as chief guest and urged the participants to involve themselves in sports to channelize their energy in a positive direction.
Celebrating the Day, the 7th Battalion of SSB organized various awareness programmes by holding student rallies at Gandoh, Thathri, Assar and Khellani in collaboration with other departments associated with the mission.
A rally as well as a seminar was organised by Bharat Scouts and Guides, District Udhampur on the auspicious occasion wherein student and activists of Scouts and Guides of BBSVP, KC Gurukul Public School and Amardeep Public School participated to spread awareness among students about the ill effects of drugs.
Nat Manch celebrated the Day in association with Mashwara Drug De-Addiction Centre at RS Pura to spread awareness about the serious issues caused due to drug abuse across the world. The president of the Manch said that a joint fight is needed to protect the young generation from the menace by involving every section of the society.
J&K Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (JKSPYM) held a mass awareness run against the drug abuse which was flagged off by Dr Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent Govt Maternity Hospital in presence of Pallavi Singh, Project Director, JKSPYM, Dr Kailash Thakur, Dr Shahida Praveen and others wherein around 200 nursing students from various Nursing Colleges participated.
A week long awareness programme was concluded at Doda, organised by Doda Police on the occasion wherein a series of programmes viz rallies of students, movie show to the students, seminars, workshops, debates competition across the length and breadth were organized to spread the awareness against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
