NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer Virendra Sehwag on Wednesday said that Mahendra Singh Dhoni should not have batted at No 7 in the World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand, in the Cricket World Cup 2019.
Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of ‘The Selector App’, Sehwag told reporters ”If MS Dhoni had come up to bat at little up the order against New Zealand, situation could have been different, from what it was.”
”An experienced MS Dhoni, who can bat under difficult situations, shouldn’t have batted at No 7, when the Men in Blue were looking to build the innings,” Sehwag added.
Asked, whether he would like to coach Team India in the coming years, Sehwag refused the proposal and said nobody knows what’s going to happen in 2021. Earlier, Sehwag had applied for the post of coach in 2017, however, BCCI preferred Ravi Shastri.
“I never wished to become a coach of the team. One of the Board Secretary told me to apply for the position and so I did”, he said. (AGENCIES)
