DGP sanctions special relief, loan

JAMMU, Feb 5: Continuing with its endeavour to provide financial assistance to the families of the police personnel and SPOs who have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 55 lakh as special welfare relief for NoKs of deceased police personnel and SPOs. He has also sanctioned Rs 8.50 lakh welfare loan and relief in favour of serving Police personnel to meet the expenses in connection with treatment of self or dependents.
The special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel HC Ghulam Hassan and SgCt Mohan Singh who expired due to illness while in service.
Grant of special relief of Rs 5 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased SPOs Sharka Singh, Tej Ram and Subash Chander who expired during the course of their engagement in the department. The financial assistance has been given out of Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
DGP has also sanctioned Rs 5 lakh welfare loan in favour of HC Nissar Ahmad for his treatment, while as Rs 3 lakh welfare loan has been sanctioned in favour of HC Vidya Raj for his treatment. Moreover, the DGP has sanctioned Rs 25,000 each as welfare relief in favour of SgCt Farooq Ahmad and Constable Tariq Ahmad who were injured while performing their legitimate duties.
The welfare loan sanctioned to the Police personnel is refundable and is recovered in monthly instalments from their salaries without any interest while welfare relief is non-refundable. The amount has been sanctioned out of Central Police Welfare Fund.
Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
