DGP sanctions scholarships

JAMMU, Mar 27: The Director General of Police RR Swain has approved scholarships totalling over Rs 12.90 lakh for 223 beneficiaries.
These scholarships, facilitated through various orders issued by PHQ J&K, aim to support the wards of martyred, deceased, retired, and serving police personnel.
Of the sanctioned amount, Rs 8.32 lakh has been allocated to 165 wards of serving police personnel who achieved outstanding academic performance, securing 80% and above in the Class 10th exams during the academic session 2022-23.
Beneficiaries excelling with over 90% marks received Rs 6000 each, while those scoring between 80% and above are rewarded with Rs 4000 each.
Additionally, a scholarship worth Rs 2.65 lakh has been sanctioned from the Central Police Education Fund for 20 wards of martyred police personnel pursuing higher education in the academic session 2022-23, ranging from Rs 12500 to Rs 15000 per beneficiary.
Further, Rs 5000 each has been granted to 35 wards of deceased police personnel pursuing education across various levels, from nursery to university, for the academic session 2022-23, sourced from the Central Police Welfare Fund.
Moreover, special recognition has been accorded to four wards of retired police personnel who achieved over 80% in the Class 12th exams during the academic session of 2022-23, with Rs 26400 each.
In a noteworthy gesture, a special reward of Rs 10000 with a Commendation Certificate Class-1 has been sanctioned to a ward of W/SPO for qualifying the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) in 2023.
