DGP sanctions Rs 1.54 cr special welfare, ex-gratia relief

JAMMU, Jan 21: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 1.54 crore as special welfare and ex-gratia relief in favour of the deceased police personnel and their family members.
As per a press statement, Rs 1.16 crore was sanctioned as special welfare relief in favour of 6 deceased police personnel and SPOs while Rs 38 lakh as ex-gratia was provided to the NoKs of the martyred police personnel.
It said that the special welfare relief of Rs 22 lakh each was sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased police personnel ASI Abdul Rehman, ASI Abdul Rashid, Selection Grade Manjeet Singh, R/Ct Muzamil Hussain, and Follower Nadeem Hussain while Rs 38 lakh as ex-gratia relief was sanctioned to the NoK of the martyr constable Fayaz Ahmed who attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack at Bandipora.
A special relief of Rs 6 lakh was also sanctioned in favour of NoK of deceased SPO Prithvi Devi, who passed away due to illness during the course of her engagement with the department, it said.
“The amount has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund,” added the press statement.
