DGP sanctions financial assistance of over Rs 1.20 cr

JAMMU, July 29: Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh, has sanctioned financial assistance exceeding Rs 1.20 crores for the welfare of police personnel and martyr families.
This assistance includes welfare loans and relief of over Rs 1.17 crore for 95 police officers and personnel to meet urgent financial requirements. Additionally, financial aid of Rs 2.20 lakh has been sanctioned for the families of martyred police personnel/SPOs.
A statement said that under PHQs’ order, Rs 66.5 lakh have been allocated to 48 personnel for self-treatment or treatment of their dependents while as 28 police personnel received financial support ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh each for their weddings and the marriages of their wards.
Furthermore, two police personnel were granted welfare loans of Rs 1.5 lakh each for their wards’ higher education. Two persons also received Rs 50,000 each for the circumcision of their wards. Additionally, welfare relief of Rs 7.45 lakh has been sanctioned for 30 police personnel.
The welfare loans given to police personnel are refundable and are recovered through monthly instalments from their salaries without interest. The amount has been sanctioned from the Central Police Welfare Fund.
The DGP has also approved monthly allowances of Rs 6,000 each for May and June 2023 from the Police Pariwar Fund in favor of 20 NoKs of martyred police personnel/SPOs residing in private accommodations and pursuing coaching programs for IAS/KAS exams organized by Mission Youth J&K.
Additionally, an amount of Rs 1 lakh has been sanctioned for the marriage ceremony of the daughter of a martyr constable.
Police Headquarters, under various welfare schemes, has been providing assistance to all ranks of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, including the families of martyr police personnel and SPOs.
