DGP sanctions ex-gratia, special welfare relief

SRINAGAR, July 10: With an aim to provide financial support to the families of the police personnel/ SPOs who attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service, the Director-General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh has sanctioned rupees one crore forty three lakh as ex-gratia and special welfare relief.
The ex-gratia relief of Rs 38 lakh and special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh have been sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of martyr Constable Ramiz Raja and martyr Inspector Parvaz Ahmad respectively who attained martyrdom in two different terrorist attacks.
Special welfare relief of Rs 20 lakh each has also been sanctioned in favour of SgCt Mohammad Taj, Constable Dharam Singh and Follower Nirmal Subh who passed away while in service.
Rupees one lakh each has been already paid to the NoKs of martyr and deceased police personnel for performing their last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund.
Similarly aiming at providing financial support to the SPOs of J&K Police, Special Relief of Rs 4.50 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents and legal heirs of deceased SPOs Surinder Singh and Manzoor Ahmad, who passed away during their engagement with the department.
Rupees 50,000 each have been already paid to the families/ NoKs for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units. The financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.
Besides, PHQ has sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs 5 lakh each in favour of NOKs of CRPF martyrs SI/GD Manga Ram, CT/Dvr Ashok Kumar and CT/GD Jagannath Roy. They attained martyrdom in a terrorist attack.
