JAMMU: The State police chief K Rajendra Kumar today reviewed law and order situation of Jammu ahead of festive season, and said adequate arrangements have been made on National Highways to prevent Udhampur-like incident.
The Director General of Police (DGP) chaired a meeting with Jammu-based senior officers of armed forces, CID, Traffic and Range DIGs of Jammu province and SSPs of Jammu, Samba and Kathua here, a police spokesman said.
He also discussed security arrangements for upcoming festivals and Darbar move at Winter Capital Jammu.
A truck conductor had died on October 18, nine days after being injured in a petrol bomb attack in Udhampur, triggering protests in some parts of Kashmir even as the tough Public Safety Act was slapped against five of the seven people arrested in the case.
During the meeting, detailed briefing was given by IGP Jammu in connection with police security arrangements planned for Moharram, Commemoration Day Function and opening of Darbar move offices at Jammu.
The DGP also said that social media have become very significant medium, which has some advantage and disadvantage.
“We are very careful to counter any false propaganda of miscreants, trouble creators and vested interest on social media,” he said. (AGENCIES)
