SRINAGAR:
Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police today reviewed the arrangements for the annual ‘Khir Bhawani’ festival scheduled to be celebrated in Ganderbal district next week.
“The DGP reviewed the arrangements for the festival, scheduled on May 26, at a meeting attended by senior police, CRPF and civil officers at district police lines Ganderbal,” an official spokesman said.
Nestled in the shade of mammoth Chinar trees at Tulmulla village, the Khir Bhawani temple is dedicated to Ragnya Devi, a revered goddess of Kashmiri Pandits and witness massive crowds of devotees, most of them migrants of the community.
The DGP K Rajendra Kumar asked for adoption of latest techniques to improve security grid for devotees and for the smooth conduct of the festival.
“Kumar stressed for efficient utilizing of manpower and latest gadgets for providing better security environment to the devotees. He also stressed upon the officers for better coordination with the civil administration and Mela management for smooth conduct of Mela celebrations,” the spokesman said.
The police chief asked for strenuous efforts to ensure smooth traffic movement on the routes leading to the shrine during the celebrations. (AGENCIES)
