Jammu, Apr 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police is upgrading its building infrastructure to provide better working facilities to its personnel. Various office buildings have been constructed across the State to strengthen the building infrastructure under the modernization scheme.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad while commissioning the Battalion Headquarter Building at Miran Sahib here today. He said that in view of the increasing manpower, the Organization has been focussing to upgrade the facilities for its personnel as per the latest requirements. Constructions are made keeping in mind the modern facilities and techniques of construction, he added.
Mr. Prasad appreciated the efforts of the officers and engineers of J&K Police Housing Corporation for ensuring quality material and time bound construction of the buildings. He asked them to keep in mind latest requirements of the personnel before finalizing the plans of construction. He said that the constructions should be equipped with latest facilities of living and working including recreational facilities for the personnel, who are always found busy facing tough situations. He asked the senior officers that proper supervision would make the performance more efficient.
Before commissioning the building, the DGP was briefed by Managing Director, J&K Police Housing Corporation, Dilbag Singh about the construction of the Battalion Headquarter Building. He was told that the two-storey building comprises barrack accommodation, administrative block and store block. Besides providing working facilities for the armed battalion, the building would accommodate 1000 personnel for their living. The construction was executed by J&K Police Housing Corporation and has been completed within a period of one year at a cost of Rs. 1.10 crore.
On the occasion, the DGP also discussed the pace of progress achieved on other works presently under execution in Jammu Division. ADGP (Headquarters), S. P. Vaid apprised the DGP about the present status of these constructions. He assured that all the constructions would be completed within the envisaged time frame.
