DGP finalizes Police Public Mela arrangements

JAMMU, Feb 18: Arrangements for 24th Police Public Mela being organized in Jammu on February 23, 2014, were finalized at a high level meeting held at Police Headquarters here today. The meeting was chaired by the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad, which was attended by senior police officers including the members of arrangement committees of the Mela.
While discussing the arrangements made for the mega event, Prasad sought reports from different committees, constituted for making the arrangements. It was informed that the required arrangements have been completed for the day long Mela. Sale of raffle draw tickets is in progress at various places across the State and the people are showing keen interest in getting tickets.
Mr Prasad, while addressing the meeting said that Police Public Mela has gained faith and fame at large scale as the event provides an opportunity to police and the public to assemble together and interact freely. The occasion has helped to strengthen police public relations and people from all shades of life are enjoying the Melas. He stressed to introduce more items in the Mela representing different regions of the State to make the event more attractive for the public. He also asked the officers to ensure sale of tickets on the Mela day also at the venue by establishing special sale counters.
The DGP disclosed that this time 727 fabulous prizes including a bumper prize costing Rs 6 lakh has been included in the raffle draw which has increased the people’s interest in the Mela. The transparency in raffle draw has strengthened the trust of the people upon the Organizers. Mela will be inaugurated at Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground at 10.30 am and raffle draw will be held at 4 pm in presence of public, he added. Prizes would be handed over to the winners on-the-spot on production of original tickets.
