DGP asks jawans to improve proficiency

SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Acknowledging the professional hazards in tackling the law and order situations, the Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad today said that since cops always remain under the gaze of public their performance should be of highest standards.
Addressing a maiden Police Darbar at District Police Lines here today, Mr. Prasad said, “goodwill of the people is a valuable and dependable asset to meet the challenges”. He said public friendly image has benefitted the force immensely which will help in isolating the bad elements from the society, as the people will be willing partners in maintaining peace and tranquility. He lauded the force for keeping high standards of policing and making it accessible to the people round the clock for help they need.
DGP asked the jawans that people have pinned lot of hopes with the police to get their grievances redressed and it is prime duty of jawans and officers to deliver justice as per their aspirations and law of the land. He asked the jawans performing in the field to provide patient hearing to the people and in token they would earn good name in their jurisdictions among the masses which would be a pride for the organization.
During the darbar, Mr. Prasad heard the problems put forth by the jawans and assured that these would be looked into for appropriate action. He gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers to solve the genuine problems of the jawans on priority.
Talking about the welfare measures, the DGP said that welfare of jawans is on top of our agenda. Department has established a Central Welfare Fund for the support of jawans and their families. For this purpose the Organization has launched various welfare schemes to benefit the serving and retired personnel. He said that the procedure for providing relief to the jawans and their families has been eased to benefit them without consuming more time.
Referring to the relief measures provided to the personnel and the families of martyrs, the DGP disclosed that during the current year till date more than Rs. 20 crores have been sanctioned and disbursed among the personnel and their families.
Regarding pay anomalies, the DGP assured that PHQ is persuading the matter with the Government very keenly and a good response from the Government is expected.
Later, the DGP handed over the cash rewards to the Jawans and officers, who have exhibited good performance while delivering to the people.
Among others, the Darbar was attended by ADGPs, P.L Gupta and S. P. Vaid, IGPs, Arun Kumar and A.G. Mir, DIGPs, Vijay Kumar and J.P. Singh, SSP Srinagar Syed Ashiq Hussain, Additional SP (PCR), Manoj Kumar Pandit and other Police officers.
