DGP announces absorption of 1000 SPOs

JAMMU, Dec 10: Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad today said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has the primary role in maintaining peace and order and providing security to the people. He said that the force has a commendable past of public service and their role has been acknowledged at all levels.
Addressing a police durbar at District Police Lines (DPL) here this evening, Mr. Prasad appreciated the role of jawans and officers of the force in maintaining peace and order during tough situations. He said that all ranks of the force have exhibited high standards of policing and ensured safety and security of the people. Their role has been recognized at national also, he added. While bringing peace in the state, the force succeeded to tackle grave situations with fortitude avoiding collateral damages, he added.
Mr. Prasad said that SPOs have been playing a bigger role with the jawans and officers of JKP in maintaining law and order in the State and their role has also been acknowledged by the Government. He disclosed that 1000 SPOs are being absorbed as Constables and Followers in the Department on technical grounds, required under the policy already framed by the Department.
Deliberating on the schemes undertaken for the welfare of its personnel and their families, the DGP said that the Organization is focusing to provide better residential facilities and in this regard 500 more residential quarters are being constructed at different location across the State to accommodate police families. He said that living and working facilities have been upgraded and the new constructions are made with latest techniques and facilities.
Stressing upon the jawans and officers to improve their proficiency, the DGP said that goodwill of the people is a valuable and dependable asset to meet the challenges. He said public friendly image has benefited the force immensely to exhibit.
The durbar was attended by a large number of jawans and officers from different wings. During durbar, the DGP heard the problems put forth by the jawans and assured that these would be looked into for appropriate action. He gave on spot directions to the concerned officers to solve the genuine problems on priority.
The DGP was accompanied by ADGP (Coordination), PL Gupta, IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar, DIG, Jammu Range, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, AIG (Personnel) PHQ, GH Bhat, SSP, Jammu, Atul Kumar Goel, SP Trainings (PHQ), BA Shah, Dy.SP DAR (DPL) Jammu, Farhan Naqash and other police officers.
