JAMMU, Apr 12: Air Marshal Jasjit Singh Kler, Director General (Inspection & Safety) today visited Air Force Station (AFS) Jammu and inspected various units besides interacting with the troops and Field Commanders.
The Air Marshal is on two-day inspection visit of Air Force Station Jammu from today. Today, he inspected various units and interacted with the troops and Field Commanders.
He was commissioned into the helicopter stream of the Indian Air Force on December 13, 1980. The Air Marshal is a Qualified Flying Instructor. He has flown close to 8000 hrs on various helicopters, flying mostly in Siachen Glacier and Eastern sector. He has flown most types of helicopters in the IAF inventory i.e. Cheetah, Chetak, Mi-8s, Mi-17s and the Mi-17 IVs.
In a career spanning 34 years, the Air Marshal has held several distinguished appointments which include SAASO MC, Deputy Commandant of Air Force Academy, AOC of Air Force Station, New Delhi, Station Commander of Jammu and Salua, Commanding Officer of HU (Helicopter Unit) and Flight Commander of HU.
He also was posted to Namibia to raise and train the Namibian Helicopter element. The Air Marshal is an alumnus of College of Defence Management and National Defence College, Bangladesh. For his distinguished service, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in 2001.
