DG BRO inspects ongoing works on Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road

‘Chattergala tunnel to reduce travel time by 1.30 hrs’

DODA, Oct 16: Director General, Border Roads Organization (BRO), Lt Gen Rajeev Chaudhary, visited Bhaderwah, Bani and Doda area and inspected various ongoing works on the prestigious projects in Bani, Bhaderwah, Doda sector and took stock of the progress on them.
The BRO chief, who is on three-day visit of the J&K, inspected the works being executed by 118 RCC on Bani- Basohli- Bhaderwah Road.
The DGBR also reviewed the ongoing works of Basti Bridge (55 meter span) which will vastly improve the connectivity all along Bhaderwah-Bani axis.
In addition to this, DG also reviewed the widening works, formation cutting and surfacing works on Bani- Basohli- Bhaderwah Road.
The BRO chief informed that the MoRTH has been approached for preparation of DPR of tunnel at Chattergala pass. The tunnel construction will be a very prestigious project that will reduce the travelling time on this highway by 1 hour and 30 minutes and will provide all weather connectivity to the people.
Meanwhile, DGBR interacted with the staff of 118 RCC under 35 BRTF in presence of Brig Tej Pal Singh Chief Engineer Project SAMPARK, RK Garg Superintendent Engineer(C) 35 BRTF, Lt Col YK Gautam (OC, 118 RCC), Capt Sachit Sharma, OIC and Rajesh Panday AE(Civil).
Expressing satisfaction with the quality of work, he appreciated the progress and motivated the staff to work with full zeal and dedication.
DGBR commended two BRO `Karmyogis’ who are performing extraordinarily on this road stretch, especially Basti bridge with DGBR commendation cards.
The old Basti Bridge is considered to have played an important role in linking destinations like Bhadarwah, Bani, Basohli and Pathankot. The old bridge is being replaced by the new Basti Bridge utilising a whopping investment in the project. It is noteworthy that there is a lot of tourism potential in Bhadarwah-Sarthal-Bani area and the tourism sector is construed to act as the main source for the people.
