JAMMU, Jan 10: The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena (DFSS) under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta took out a massive protest rally in Jammu City against the power cuts in winter season which has halted the life of the City.
The Party workers were carrying oil lamps and ‘Kangri’ to represent the fact that these things have to be used by the citizens in order to attain light and keep themselves warm in peak of winter season as Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to provide power to the people as per schedule due to which general public is suffering badly.
Raising slogans against PDD, the protesting DFSS workers said that there is a shortage of electricity due to which there are power cuts. Kashmir is being given power transfer of 1600 MW whereas Jammu is given half of it, they said, adding, the variation of the power supply should be finished and equal power supply of 1200 MW should be given to both the divisions.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Gupta said since independence Jammu has always been in power deficit despite the fact that a lot of power projects are generating electricity. He stated that Jammu and Kashmir should get its independent power generation system.
The party people present at the time of protest were Abhishek, Bantu, Kalu, Vikky, Prem, Rampal, Rajesh, Vinay and Khandu.
