DFCO passes instruction to Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd

JAMMU, Nov 21: Drugs and Food Control Organization has instructed the Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Private Limited, Gangyal to carry out procedure for the disposal of unconsumed stock, which they recalled from the flood affected areas of the Kashmir. The organization also seized 287 litres of Sofit Soya milk, which was declared misbranded by the Food Analyst.
The enforcement staff of the organization carried out surprise visit to Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Private Limited, Gangyal and found 7978 cases of beverages and packaged drinking water amounting Rs 50 lakh approximately dumped inside the premises of the factory. It was learnt that the company had recalled the unconsumed stock of the said articles from the flood affected areas of the Kashmir as the same remained in contact with flood waters and thereof rendered unfit for human consumption.
The authorized signatory RA Yadav of the company has been instructed to carry out procedure for the disposal of these recalled articles strictly as per standard operating procedures devised by the company under the supervision of empowered authorities under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006.
The exercise was conducted under the supervision of Designated Officer Madan Mangotra along with team of Food Safety Officers.
On the sidelines of this exercise, another team of Enforcement Officers seized 287 litres of Sofit Soya milk, which was declared misbranded by the Food Analyst. Legal action as contemplated under law shall follow against the defaulting firm in due course of time.
