DFCO inspects 304 food establishments

JAMMU, May 29: In a drive launched for sale of hygienic products in both urban and rural areas of all districts, the Drug and Food Control Organisation (DFCO) inspected 304 food establishments and took 92 food samples of various items for test and analysis under Food Safety and Standards Act.
The DFCO teams headed by Deputy Controller Lotika Khajuria directed 67 food establishments to improve sanitary/hygienic conditions.
Some of the establishments were imposed a fine of Rs 1650 under the provisions of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.
The teams also destroyed and disposed of rotten vegetables and sweets more than 100 kilograms on spot.
In Kishtwar district, the DFCO teams directed the food establishments to keep their premises neat and clean during forthcoming holy yatra of Machail Mata ji.
