NAGROTA, Dec 11: Saying development forms core of his agenda for Nagrota, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today spelled out his priorities for realising the goal of transforming it as a model constituency with modular facilities.
“Transforming Nagrota into Nava Jammu is a collective vision of the residents of this constituency and the day is not far when it will become a reality”, Mr Rana said while addressing a huge gathering at Jandyal.
He said the people’s commitment to a cause has unnerved the opponents who find themselves agenda-less and as a consequence resort to inciting passions by indulging in hollow sloganeering. “In fact, they never ever had any agenda for Nagrota and the past twelve years in particular have gone waste”, Mr Rana said.
The Provincial President, who is National Conference candidate for the constituency, said that his mission to transform Nagrota is getting strengthened each passing day with people of the area reposing their immense faith in him. He said he has endeavoured in his own humble way during the past seven years to put the constituency on fast track development and the results are before the people.
Mr Rana exuded confidence about the success of his Mission Nagrota and said the developed constituency will pave way for establishing a satellite township with lot of opportunities for the people believing in faster expansion of the Jammu city. He said Nagrota is destined to become hub of economic and commercial activity in the years to come and urged the people to prepare themselves for the big challenge. He said National Conference Government will ensure that this area gets its due in a time bound manner.
Referring to the commitment of National Conference to empowerment of women and creating avenues of job opportunities for educated unemployed and skilled workforce, Mr Rana said several initiatives have already been taken which have opened up vistas of opportunities for the targeted segments. In context of employment generation, Mr Rana said that the innovative programmes undertaken by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah like Himayat and Udaan have immense potential for the young people of Nagrota who are second to none in talent. He also referred to various schemes launched for women empowerment, especially giving them due representation in grass roots level democratic institutions to ensure their greater role in decision making.
Mr Rana urged the people to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for steering Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to pinnacles of progress and development.
