Sir,
Feb. 28 was celebrated as National Science Day but very few people are aware of it. We celebrate other days but we forget this important one. Our country is known for its innovation and research for centuries. Our soil has given birth to many talented and brilliant scientists like C V Raman, Jagdish Chander Basu, Chandersheker, Hargovind Khorana, etc who make us feel proud. However, present generation is is not so much keen in science related activities. There is a strong need to develop scientific temper and innovative ideas in the country which believes in superstitions and filthy magic. A great philosopher has said “Science without religion is blind and religion without science is lame” means science and religion should go side by side. Our education system is also faulty where science is taught only for covering syllabus and learned for getting marks in exams. There is a strong need of hour to create scientific temper in the society then only we can make progress in a right way.
Yours etc….
Mukesh Kumar, Chakrali
