Accuses Oppn of nurturing politics in separatism

JAMMU, Jan 19: Mocking at Rahul Gandhi-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ that entered Jammu and Kashmir today, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that Congress leaders are deserting the party from wherever this Yatra is passing through.
“After Bharat Jodo Yatra passed through Goa, its six leaders joined BJP and when it reached Punjab, their former Minister Manpreet Badal also joined us. And before they enter J&K, Congress spokesperson has quit the party,” he said in response to a query by media persons on the sidelines of a function at Kathua today.

Pertinent to mention here that former Finance Minister in then Congress Government at Punjab, Manpreet Badal yesterday joined BJP while Congress Spokesperson in J&K, Deepika Pushkar Nath had quit the party two days back in protest against Choudhary Lal Singh’s announced participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Quoting an Urdu couplet, Dr Jitendra Singh fired a salvo on the Congress over its Bharat Jodo Yatra and reminded how Bhartiya Janta Party was twice stopped by then regimes from hoisting National Flag in Kashmir.
“That time, these were the same parties which opposed and stopped the BJP’s Yatra and we still remember how our three senior leaders Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Anant Kumar were taken into custody at Jammu Airport and forcibly sent to Pathankot,” he said and added that when PM Modi has made J&K part of national mainstream by abrogating Article 370, what others could not dare to do, these opposition parties were staging drama in the name of Bharat Jodo Yatra.
“In fact reality is that their (Congress and other opposition parties) politics nurtures in separatism, which helped them to become MPs and Legislators because of 10 percent turnout in elections,” said Dr Jitendra Singh.
Earlier, Dr Jitendra Singh, who is Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, attended the concluding function of the 3- day long multimedia exhibition at Government Degree College, Kathua where he was chief guest.
The exhibition was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Field Office, Kathua as part of a series of awareness programmes being organized across different districts of J&K under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
Dr Jitendra Singh appreciated the efforts of Central Bureau of Communication, J&K for showcasing the history of India’s freedom struggle through photo exhibits, audio-visual aids, printed Information Education and Communication (IEC) material and documentary screenings.

Meanwhile, the Union Minister also addressed “Exam Warriors” (students) during a district level painting competition, organized under ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, 2023 by Department of Education at GDC Kathua.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, since this era is technology driven and students have everything on their mobile handsets, what is required is identification of talent and proper guidance that can only be done by the teachers of this country. Teachers now have a larger role to play to build confidence among the students so that they can be best guided in the right direction, he added.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the brainchild behind NEP-2020, Dr Singh said, the motto of NEP-2020 is equitable and inclusive education with many entry and exit points, assuring that no child should be denied access to quality education irrespective of the background.
