‘Derry Girls’ season 3 to start shooting this year

London, Feb 22: “Bridgerton” star Nicola Coughlan has confirmed that the third season of her sitcom “Derry Girls” will begin filming in 2021.
Created and written by Lisa McGee, the Channel 4 series follows a group of teenagers living in Derry, Northern Ireland, amid the Troubles, an ethno-nationalist period of conflict in Northern Ireland, in the 1990s.
Coughlan, who plays Claire on the show, said the new chapter will go on floors this year after being delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Can confirm Series 3 of ‘Derry Girls’ is filming this year and I cannae bloody wait (sic),” the 34-year-old actor tweeted.
As the upcoming season is the “best” in the series, Coughlan said it will be worth the wait.
“Covid has pushed back filming several times which has been so s***e, but honestly the storylines in this series are the best we’ve ever done so I can’t tell you how worth it the wait will have been,” she said.
“Derry Girls” also stars Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell and Dylan Llewellyn.
The first season of the show aired early in 2018, with season two following the year after.
Coughlan recently appeared in Netflix’s smash hit series “Bridgerton” as Penelope Featherington. (PTI)
